How Beverage Companies Impact the Environment: Topography's Recycling Commitment

At Topography Cannabis Co., we are focused on sustainability, the great outdoors, and the earth. Our cans are made of aluminum and are recyclable. We need your help to continue the cycle by recycling our cans at your local recycling center! Chattanooga, Tennessee, our hometown, has a robust recycling program that accepts aluminum cans! Landfills accumulate 2.7 million tons of aluminum per year- that could all be recycled! We value the environment and want to leave the earth better than we found it. 

Our cardboard cases are recyclable as well as our PakTech plastic lid holders for our drinks; all of which we encourage you to recycle. PakTechs are our 4-can plastic holders that you see on the shelf. They are made up of 100% recycled plastic and are ready to be recycled after use. The reason we chose the PakTech lids instead of more cardboard boxes for our 4-pack cans is because the PakTech lids are accepted at most recycling facilities and we reuse our lids when we can. We donate our cardboard boxes to the local humane society (McKamey Animal Center) to use as litter boxes for cats looking for forever homes. 

For our weekly tastings, we use compostable 3 ounce cups and when we have the option to use paper or recyclable plastic, we do. Our cups have no PFAS added, meaning there are no “forever chemicals” in our cups! The current rate of plastic recycling is between 5%-13% in the US and only 9% of plastic is recycled worldwide which is an astonishingly low number. We want to boost that number with our sustainability practices and we want your help! Where you can recycle, please do! 

According to the hemp foundation, “In 2018, the CO2 level on the earth’s surface reached 407.4 parts per million, a record high after 3 million years.” This makes the earth’s temperature rise more and contributes to global warming. Our oceans are more acidic because of absorbing more CO2. Hemp, believe it or not, can help with this! For every ton of hemp, it can sequester 1.62 tons of CO2. This means that hemp growth can contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions and global warming. Hemp can be used not only for consumption, but for building, insulation, clothing, etc. By consuming hemp, you are helping the planet! The world has so much to learn from hemp and its impact on CO2.

Mother earth is ours to cherish and maintain, and we are dedicated to help with that environmental care. When you recycle, imagine yourself helping a family of baby ducks or leaving forests to grow. Recycling impacts everyone and everything around us. When you hike or camp, it's important to leave the sites better than you found them. Here at Topography we are determined to leave the earth better than we found it and you can be a part of the change too! Through recycling our products you can make an impact on the earth and practice sustainability. We thank you and so does the earth!
