Nano-Emulsification 101: What Is Rapid Dose THC?

Highlights

  • Terms like “nano THC,” “fast acting THC,” and “rapid dose THC” are used to describe a key innovation in the hemp beverage industry.
  • This innovation, called nano-emulsification, allows THC particles to be distributed evenly within liquids, including Topography Trailblazers and our upcoming elixir.
  • Nano-emulsification reduces the size of THC particles and wraps them in a water-friendly layer, which means your body can absorb them more easily, resulting in a quicker and lighter high than traditional edibles.

Nano-Emulsification 101: What Is Rapid Dose THC?

Nano THC. Fast acting THC. Rapid dose THC. The list goes on and on.

You’ve likely read or heard these terms while checking out various THC drinks, and we ourselves use them when describing our Trailblazers. But what do they mean?

To find out, let’s dive into the world of nano-emulsified THC.

What is nano-emulsification?

Nano-emulsification sounds like something you’d hear in the latest sci-fi movie blockbuster. We admit, it’s a very jargony way to describe a pretty simple concept. Nano-emulsification is simply the process of making THC droplets smaller and more easily absorbed by your body.

Normal THC particles are large and don’t dissolve in water. Think of them like globs of oil. When you place them in water, they stick to themselves and refuse to mix. If you try to make a THC drink without addressing this issue, the THC droplets will cling to the side of the container and group up in thick, oily, unappetizing layers.

Making THC droplets smaller is the first step to getting around this problem. The second step is wrapping them in an emulsifier, a water-friendly layer that allows them to distribute evenly in liquids. So, dividing the word in two gives you:

Nano = make smaller

Emulsification = wrap in a water-friendly bubble

Nano-emulsification makes THC particles smaller and easier to mix in fluids. Both are vital to creating a tasty, potent THC drink.

What’s so great about nano THC?

Nano THC is fast acting, especially when compared to traditional edibles.

Traditional THC must be broken down and digested before it’s processed in the liver, which can take hours. Nano THC, on the other hand, is absorbed through the lining of your mouth, throat and stomach. This means you can feel its effects in as little as 15 minutes. It also means you won’t be couch-locked for six hours or more after drinking some. Our Trailblazers usually wear off within two to four hours, making them perfect for social outings, outdoor adventures or a trip to the movies…

…or an afternoon indoors with some snacks and your favorite reality TV show. We don’t judge.
